Pilot 384th BG 544th BS' Description WOW...What a find ..You just seldom find a jacket like this with such incredible history ...This jacket was worn and owned by a KIA Pilot ...Name written inside ..Belong to 2nd Lt. Hugh L. Evans flew a B-17 out of England ..2nd Lt. Hugh Evans arrived at the 384th BG , 544th SQ April 17th 1944 ..He was KIA on his 33rd. mission the 30th Nov. 1944 mission to Zietz, Germany . He was the pilot of B-17 , #43-37713 . The A/C went down . most probably due to a direct hit by flak in the bomb bay . Neither the a/c of the crews bodies were ever found. OK , now the jacket ..I guess he just didn't have time to add the 4 previous mission bombs on his A-2 jacket .A buddy sent the jacket back home here in the US to Evans family ..The jacket is a size 40...Cuffs are very worn and torn ..Jacket is nice and as discovered ...Patch is fantastic ..Liner is complete ..Leather is untorn just worn ..Palne and bombs painted on the back show much wear but very much present ...see pictures ...It should go back to England ...
