Description
Offered is a rare vintage CHAMIZAL MEDALLION accompanied by  SIGNED 1967 LYNDON B. JOHNSON LETTER.  This item has been appraised by whatsitworthtoyou.  It is also listed so if you want to view the appraisal go to http://www.whatsitworthtoyou.com and look under coins/medallions and you can view the appraisal there. It has been appraised between $10,000.00 and $20,000.00, $10,000.00 being what a dealer may pay for it and up to $20,000.00 being what a dealer may sell it for.  This item belongs to a friend of mine.  It belonged to her deceased mother, Mrs. Helen Ostick and this is to whom the letter from Johnson is written.   Now for the description. It is a 1967 Chamizal Medallion accompanied with a November 13, 1967 signed letter from the White House signed by Lyndon B. Johnson.  Comes in original brown envelope from the White House with the original stamps.  Brown envelope and stamps have wear.  Everything inside excellent condition. Letter has been folded but I believe it is supposed to be that way because it fits just right under the ribbon on top of box and Medallion goes on bottom in space for it. The appraisal says, ".....The chamizal Settlement relocated the Rio Grande River Channel and ended a century long boundary dispute between Mexico and the Untied States (courtesy Texas Western Press).  A number of important people including legislators and ambassadors were given medallions and letters signed by Lyndon Johnson to commemorate this great event.  This meedallion along with the signed letter carry a great deal of importance and measurable provenance. I find that wieht recent newsworthy political planning of future relations with Mexican immigrants that this item(s) carry a measurable amount of market value. Congratulations....."  Current Fair Market Value: $10,000; Replacement Cost: $20,000.00.  Current Fair Market Value is the amount someonemight receive when selling their to a dealer....Replacement cosxt is the retail amount one might reasonable pay to purchase the item from a dealer, gallery, store, etc.  It is also the amount for which one may want to insure an item.  You can view the appraisal at whatsitworthtoyou.com, and of course you will get a typed page of the appraisal with the item.
