Description
You are bidding on a free frank signed by president Ulysses Grant (front panel only). The panel is addressed "Confidential" to "Hon. H(amilton) Fish," all in Grant's hand. There is no place or date. The free frank has been laid into the first of two Volumes of the First Edition hardcover, "Personal Memoirs of U.S. Grant," written by Ulysses Grant and published by Charles L. Webster & Company (Mark Twain's company) in 1885. Grant's signature and writing are as clear today as when the president penned it. Both volumes of the book are in excellent to near fine condition. The autographed frank was purchased from University Archives, one of the most respected dealers of presidential autographed collectibles in the world. Furthermore, the signature has been authenticated by John Reznikoff, the leading authenticator of presidential autographs in the world. The free frank and both books will be sent to the winning bidder accompanied by Letters of Authenticity from University Archives and John Reznikoff. One additional note: Ulysses Grant's "Memoirs" are considered by many literary experts to be the finest of all presidential autobiographies.
