Description
Superb English SEALED Onion Wine Bottle O.ELLIS 1717 DescriptionA fabulous squat English freeblown ONION bottle ..which as you can see has an applied seal... this seal and the lip have slight damage. read on for a full report of this. The bottle is dark olive green glass with lovely long air bubbles in places...a pontil scar typical of this type...not too rough... the neck has the drawn out glass marks where it has been blown.. the lip is a string rim and applied and tooled when moulten. On the base there are 3 small lumps of paint i think which has prevented the bottle from slipping around as not to get broken. the last collector must have done this.. these are not newly applied on..and i have not taken them off. you can see the base rim is scuffed from being put down on various surfaces. The seal.... this is hand applied on afterwards... its not moulded to the glass bottle...as the bottle is freeblown. the seal is rather nice having a small 8 pointed STAR with a DOT at either side ... below a large O . Ellis ..then a DOT before the date 1717 and a DOT afterwards. ..looking at the top right hand side the edge of the seal is broken .. this is 14mm long x 2mm wide.. then a tiny nibble below missing 3mm x 1mm...see the CLOSE up pics which you can ENLARGE..The neck and lip...... the front of the lip has a chip... chunk out.. i have not got it. this chip is 14mm at the top rim and comes down to the neck 10mm... at the rear it has a small ding.. 6mm x 3mm.. and a couple of other small chips on the underside of the string lip ..again please see the ENLARGED pics.At the front left of the seal as your looking at the bottle it has a small SPIDER WEB crack ...this has 5 hairlines running from it. the longest crack is 25mm , others include ..10mm ,10mm, 8mm, 3mm...it has NO other damage...it is mucky inside and has scuffs ..it has no bubble bursts and is in overall fantastic condition for its age. it has NO restoration as far as i can see...it is NOT sick and has not been in water by the look of it. as i say it is a wonderful dated English Onion bottle.    It is 15cm tall x 16cm wide body ..the seal is 37mm dia and it weighs approx ....1.102kilograms.Overseas bidders please be aware that this bottle will require very good packing ..as I wouldnt want it to break on route..the shipping price reflects this. !    I will combine shipping where possible.      If a scale is shown it is in CENTIMETRES ... 2.5cm = 1 inchPlease just click on a picture of the item and a new window opens up where the photographs are all enlarged ..scroll through each one to make sure you have seen the beauty of the item. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Click here  GEORGIAN HOUSE COLLECTABLESto see my EBAY SHOP items which are BUY IT NOW or Best Offers..these items dont show up on normal Ebay searches.  <<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>> For my full Terms & Conditions please  View My About Me page  Please note the items I sell are antique or vintage and as such have been around for many years, they will show signs of use and whilst I will describe condition to the best of my ability, everyone has a different idea of condition.  Please study my photo's  and ask any questions before bidding.Payment by PAYPAL ~ DIRECT BANK TRANSFER or STERLING CHEQUE only Please ASK questions before bidding.  I SELL   WIDE                        diggerlee Store
