Eddy and Pearl are fused glass artists who at the time where living in Key West, Florida. They were rebuilding their lives together for the third time and working with glass had become their passion. Every evening they would join other artists at Mallory Pier for the nightly “Sunset Celebration”. There, they could sell their artwork to the hundreds of tourists that came from all over the world who came to watch the sunset. Their most popular artwork was the fused glass pendants they created. Made from layers of glass fused together a number of times in a kiln at temperatures around 1500’. The dichroic glass they use gives their pendants a depth and sparkle like a real opal in a multitude of colors. It is not until the last firing and when the glass has cooled that they can see their creations. So every morning they would open the kiln and inspect the progress of each piece of glass. They would joke with each other that it was like having Christmas every morning. “Life was Good” On Easter morning in 2005 while looking at the glass pendants, they discovered a pendant that was truly a miracle, one of a kind. The dichroic glass in this pendant had formed the Angel of the Lord pointing toward heaven, from the lower left corner to the upper right corner of the pendant. It was then that they saw the miracle in glass; in the lower right hand corner of the pendant you can see an open tomb and a figure in white, depicting the resurrection of Jesus Christ. They named this pendant the Resurrection Pendant and displayed it for everyone to see. In October of 2005, hurricane Wilma flooded Key West and Eddy and Pearl like many others lost almost everything. It was one of the few times either of them had worn the pendant to keep it safe. Not only did they keep it safe, but their lives were saved when the water came rushing in the home. When friends of theirs who live on a small island in the Caribbean heard what had happened, they offered them a place to stay. Eddy and Pearl had to start over again, now they have a small studio on the island and life is starting to look good again. They wanted to share their story and let everyone know that miracles do happen and hope that you enjoy the photo of the Resurrection Pendant. The only goal they have left in rebuilding is to purchase a house and build a glass workshop to start teaching future glass artists.
