Japanese Surrender World War II Photographer: AP Staff Date of Photograph: September 2, 1945 Print Size: 16" x 20" Frame Size: 26" x 30" Limited Edition Print: Publisher's Proof, hand-numbered PP 1/10 In this historic photo, Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, Commander-in-Chief of the Pacific Fleet and Pacific Ocean area, sits at the table aboard the Battleship Missouri as he signs the World War II surrender of the Japanese on September 2, 1945. Standing behind him are ( left to right) Gen. Douglas MacArthur, Admiral William F Halsey Jr., and the Rear Admiral Forrest Sherman. This photograph was printed as a limited edition and the original negative, culled from the Associated press archives, was used to recreate this image. It is printed on fiber-based, museum quality archival paper and was entirely handmade by master Printer Vincent Nanfra, of The Darkroom Photographic Studio, New York City. A Certificate of Authenticity from the Associated Press is included.
