Description
This Plateau cradleboard is either Nez Perse or Flathead and it is from Montana. This beauty measures 37" tall, not including 8" of bottom fringe, and is 14" wide. The top panel is 18" x 14" and has a fantastic palette of color and designs made of tiny beads with many cut beads. They body is native tanned elk hide and the hood is trade wool. There are also military buttons and loops of brass and padre beads. The top has a 12" x 12" panel of fringe. CA: 19th Century, in excellent condition and museum quality.
