It is a box of the original Coca-Cola marketing materials, memos and product introduction scripts for "Simba." Simba's slogan was - "It conquers the African thirst," and was introduced by the Coca-Cola company in the early 70's but didn't last long. The memos are dated February 10, 1971. This auction also includes the reel-to-reel tape of the TV commercial previews for the product launch, color slides from commercial ads, and an actual bottle of Simba. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a very rare and original piece of history. I can't imagine that you will be able to find this anywhere else. This auction is only for the very serious collector, and I have to warn you ahead of time that there are a couple of controversial statements in the memo pages. Simba was Coca-Colas attempt to increase their share of the "Negro" market. For example, on page 16, the marketing executive writes: "First, you need a good name. I guess we've all seen enough jungle movies to pick up a few African phrases like Umgowa, bwana. I never have known exactly what that one means... Yes, sir, boss or something like that."
