The combination of the 2 large signs at the front entrance on Michigan Avenue was one of the most awesome displays I have ever seen.  I have been told that this signage has even been featured in a couple of the Chevrolet commercial advertisements in the past.   I purchased all of the signs in 2004 from City Chevrolet.  I spent a small fortune hiring White Way Sign Company to obtain permits and remove the signs.  White Way was actually the company that made these old signs years ago, and had been servicing them throughout the years.  Their name is fired into the porcelain on these signs.   In this auction, I am offering the long HORIZONTAL SIGN ONLY at the front entrance (see other auctions for 2 other signs from the building).  It is a 1-sided porcelain neon sign.  The long, thin white extensions to the right and left are probably add-ons at some point as they are painted tin.  There are light bulbs in these, and around the perimeter of the main sign (the white on the main portion is porcelain).  I assume these animated.  The Chevrolet letters are double-stroked neon.  The main portion of this sign is in two sections.  Some of the Chevrolet blue porcelain panels were removed from the white background to aid in removal from the building.  In doing this we discovered that there was another sign underneath!  This sign Said "City Auto Sales" under the blue Chevrolet panels.  City Auto Sales was in red porcelain and outlined in neon.  The rest of the sign is all light bulbs, hundreds of them.  So really, there are two usable signs here.   The porcelain does show some age.  The blue has some uniform fade to it, but this thing is so big that you do not really focus on that like you would a smaller sign.  Some of the panels are a little loose, and there is a dent in one or two of the panels.   The main portion of the sign is two sections.  One section is 21' long x 6'3" tall x 9" thick, and the other is 20' long, for a total of 41' length.  The painted tin extensions add even more length to the right and left if you wish to use them.   The sign is being sold as is, in unrestored condition.  Because of size, this is a pickup only item on the east side of Indianapolis.  I will assist with loading any way I can.  No Paypal please.  If you have any questions you can contact me at 317-698-8300.  Do not miss your change to own a one-of-a-kind sign and a piece of Chevrolet and Chicago history.
