Corrosive white spots at 4:00. Bright plate. ACCOMPANYING NOTE. Indicates this couple as "Alfred & Sarah Chapman Mama's Uncle & Aunt Taken sometime in the 1840s." I would date this pair as 1850 or perhaps a little later. MAKER.  The mats do not indicate a maker. The seller insisted this pair is by Abraham Bogardus, a superior daguerreotypist from New York City. However, my brief research into Bogardus' studio furniture has not been able to confirm that.
