Description
Solid Bronze Bust of HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh All offers considered. Payment plan available to pre-qualified bidders. For further information (royaltyac@aol.com)   The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh (born Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark, June 10, 1921 is the husband and consort of Queen Elizabeth II. Originally a royal Prince of  Greece and Denmak, Prince Philip renounced these titles shortly before his marriage, though he retains the Greek flag (white cross on blue field) on his Shield of Arms. At the time of his engagement he was known as Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten. On 20 November 1947, he married Princess Elizabeth, the heiress presumptive to King George VI. Prince Philip is a member of the Danish-German House of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, which includes the royal houses of Denmark and Norway and the deposed royal house of Greece. This wonderful bust of HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh sat in The Dorchester Hotel in London for nearly 50 years. HRH Prince Philip  posed for this piece in the late 1940’s( 1947-1949).The hotel was purchased by The Sultan of Bruni. He remodeled, sending all the wonderful furnishings and art work to auction which is how this bust came into my possession. It sat for three months in the den of Prince Philip at Buckingham Palace. I sent it hoping he could tell me who the sculptor was and when it was done. I carried this piece from the private entrance to Buckingham Palace. Her Majesty thought it a wonderful likeness. Buckingham Palace (Sir Robert Fellows, then secretary to Her Majesty & brother-in-law of the late Princes Diana ) forwarded a list of sculptors who, over the years Prince Philip sat for. Being a royal and having had so many paintings and art work done, it is possible Prince Philip sat for this piece and doesn't remember. Many pieces are commissioned for City Halls, etc with the royal family member never seeing the finished product.     Everything Royal is closing All offers considered   For further information on SELLER, www.everythingroyal.com (previously royaltyac) I will be happy to answer any questions and show provenance (authenticity) on any item.
