Stanbury. IDENTICAL TWINS. Daguerreotype, Brooklyn, c. 1848.  Double portrait of adult twin sisters wearing matching dresses with red-tinted bows. Signature of the maker, Stanbury – Brooklyn, is etched on the plate. Quarter plate, plain brass elliptical mat, modern ultra-clear glass, new seals, housed in original morocco case with floral motif. Ring of natural tarnish following the contour of the mat and a few very minor, nearly invisible defects, the most significant being a miniscule brown spot on the right twin’s forehead.
